  1. I've gone through the whole process of smartripping / dvd2avi framserve / Tmpengc encode / ifoedit author and it produces what looks like all the correct IFO and vobs. The resulting DVD will play fine, however, when I try to skip to chapter 2, the video freezes but the audio still plays and it sounds like it's playing chapter 2's audio. Skipping to any other chapter, other than the first chapter, yields the same result - freeze video and audio from chapter 2.

Does anyone know what could be the problem here, and do you think it can be fixed by simply editing the IFO files ? Any help is much appreciated. Thanks.

I assume you have actually put chapters into the IfoEdit author (celltimes.txt) got from IfoEdit itself from the original IFO ?

  3. Thanks for the reply. Yes, I got the celltimes.txt file using IFOedit and the original IFO file. Actually, its not the origina lFO file, but an IFO file generated by IFOedit after I had gone through and stripped streams and VOB IDs. I did play the resulting VOBs from the stripping in PowerDVD and it plays fine, with chpater skip and everything, before I did the reencoding and the subsequent authoring.

  4. Noticed the same problem with Ifoedit but only with Sony DVD player, however the chapters were fine with Audivox DVD player and power DVD.

Now I author DVDs with DVD Maestro and the chapter works fine on the Sony player.

I am not sure why Ifoedit does that

If you are authoring NTSC Films, ifoedit is not the way to go to author them. There is a well known bug in ifoedit that it will not correctly interpret the pulldown flags in a NTSC Film. Use DVDmaestro or other authoring software.
