    When I do my 2PassVBR MPEG2 encoding (DVD source) I seem to get better results using Motion Search Estimate rather than the High Qual (Slow) setting. I'm not sure how file sizes compare with the 2 different settings.
    Any thoughts on this ?

    Also, the only pixelation/blocking I do get seems to be when there is fire or laser blasts/explosions are taking place.
    What methods may resolve this? filters perhaps.

    try to use the Kwag templates (kvcd.net)
    modify as you wish
    they work great
