  2. Well I'm not as excited as you are to be offered a new version of Quick Time. Many versions of QT have been a step backwords so am waiting to hear how it works and what features are included. Quicktime 6.0 for example no longer plays VCD's and mpeg editing is more limited. Both require using an older QT or another app to do/play now. We still don't know if this was a bug or a feature Jaguar doesn't run any QT older then 6.0 so other apps are needed to replace the missing features.

Using 6.1 for me is indeed a step backwards.
Under 6.02 and using the 3ivx pr2 codec my movies played flawlessly. Not anymore, now I'm riddled with dropped frames and audio sync issues. I'm thinking of reverting back to 6.02.
    Anyone else experience this?

  4. I've not tried 6.1 yet for the above reasons. Oddly enough one of the stated "improvments" are better Divx playback on machines that had the problems you mention. One person has already mentioned less mpeg editing features...I'm going to wait awhile on this one. I'm not yet sure if you can keep the older QT 6. on your machine in OSX . In OS 9.x you can have multibel QT players which give you the old features while using the latest codecs.

Try getting rid of the 3ivx codec that comandeers all your divx content, and try the official DivX.com Divx 5 alpha for OS X. It's been flawless for me.

Unfortunatly you cannot have two QuickTime application installed at the same time in OSX.

  8. Well I decided to be brave and install the new QT 6.1 works fine so far and movie size does switch more quickly.

I also found you can keep the older Quicktime 6.0.2 player in OSX! I just put
a copy of the QT player 6.02 inside a folder labeled older qt. I can still open and use this player. When i check info it says QT 6.1 with QT 6.0.2 player!
