  1. I'm trying to create a VCD or SVCD for my home video collection and would like to use the MENU feature in Nero to neatly catalog and access all .mpg video files I burn to the (S)VCD. However, this simple process doesn't seem to work. I clearly "enable menu" and add the files and it just won't play the menu at all on my APEX AD-600A DVD player. After further checking the file structure burned on the CD, an ITEM001.DAT can be found in the \SEGMENT folder created by Nero which I believe to be the actual menu file, however, it just doesn't play when laoding the VCD or pressing the title/menu button on my remote. After reading some posts on this GREAT site, I've come to the conslusion I'm not alone here (Nero bug or user error?) but I'm hoping someone knows the secret (and maybe it's just not possible?). I haven't seen any real solutions, only suggestions so far and none have worked for me (hey what can I expect for free advice ). Any help is greatly appreciated.

  2. I have AD660 and had the same question. Keep the "Play" button pressed on the remote control after the VCD/SVCD is inserted in the drive. It will show the menu page. Hope this helps...

    Thanks,

  3. Samboy thanks! Problem solved. Holding down the play button on remote didn't actually make the menu play. However, after reading your post and trying it I realized there are two play buttons on the APEX 600A remote. One is PLAY/ENTER and the other PLAY/PAUSE. Unfortunately I was hitting the play/pause which doesn't do anything. BUT hitting play/enter after the VCD loads takes me right to the menu and it works great!!
