  1. I am a novice to the world of VCDs. So I could be asking some dumb questions ... Anyway, here is my question:
I captured an avi file through 1394 interface from my PAL Camcorder (SONY DCR-TRV10E). I converted it into an MPEG file (NTSC format) using TMPGENC. Thereafter I made a ".cue" file using VCDEasy and burnt it on a CDR using TEAC CD Writer. I am able to play it on any PC (by using a vcd playing software) but when I try playing on my DVD Player (Yamaha DV-S5270), it says that it does not support this type of disc. The User manual for DV-S5270 says it can play VCD !! I had purchased this DVD Player 3 years back. What could be wrong ?

If you live in a PAL territory (which I assume you do as you have a PAL camcorder) then your DVD player may not support NTSC VCDs.

Or it may not play CD-R/W discs.
