  1. Ok, I've searched and read many articles over the last few days looking for solution to green screen problems. Here's my problem: I've tried using PowerVCR II v3.0 Deluxe AND WinDVR to capture in real-time MPEG2 format @ 640x480 res. (Since I cannot capture an AVI @ 640x480 using VirtualDub - only 320x240) Both programs appear to be capturing just fine, but when I play them back the screen is GREEN. The audio comes through just fine. Now, I've captured as an AVI in VirtualDUB @ 320x240 and then used TMPGENC to convert it to MPEG2 and the videos play just peachy.
I've tried various codecs in an attempt to correct the problem and I ended up in CODEC HELL. I just restored the drive image of my OS and would like to correct this problem before I start disabling, deleting, un-installing .AX files & such...again! Ahhh!
BTW, I'm using the ATI All-In-Wonder capture card with the BT829 chip.
    Thanks for any help

  3. Nope, the videos are home movies. Captured from VHS. It's not a macrovision problem. It's a green screen when I play them back in Windows Media player or any other player. I captured them with PowerVCR and WinDVR as real time MPEG and both have the same result - Green playback w/ sound. However, I did re-install ATI's multimedia center, captured at 640x480 as MPEG and they played back fine. Hmmm... ATI cards using a proprietary codec in MMC when captured as MPEG? ...So, MPEGs captured with other software will not play back properly on ATI cards? AVIs work fine no matter what program I use. It's just that I can't capture any higher than 320x240.

  4. I had problems before with green screens.. but I fixed it.. it had to do with the decoder for the codecs.. not the codecs themselves...

To fix, I downloaded the newest ffdshow decoder.. *I used one that was with Nimo Codec Pack, and that's the one that was messed up*.. so anyhow.. get the newest decoder.. and try to use it.. let's see if I can find a link here.

    Good Luck
