  1. Hi,

My brother has just got a DVD player, and I was trying to convert one of the DivX's I have on my P.C to a VCD so we could watch it on the DVD player.

Everythings fine except the ridiculously long conversion time ! It has been going for 4+ hours now! Is there no faster way of doing this, or is this just how it is !

I used Virtualdub to convert audio to a .wav, then TMPGEnc to create the mpg (it's still running now). I have a fairly fast PC with 512meg RAM, PIII 1000Mhz etc.

    James

4 hours and more isn't bad at all. There are people on this board who's computer's takes 30 and 40 hours to encode one movie.

    Things to consider........

    Procesing power of your computer
    Length of film your'e encoding
Number of filters you have applied

I have an 1800 XP with 256 DDR ram and to convert a 1hr 45 min film to SVCD usually takes about 6 hrs, so maybe you are worrying about nothing.
Set it going before you go to bed is probably favourite.

    Have fun.
