I just bought a Cyberhome CH-DVD 402 and have noticed something odd with the way it counts the play sequences for scene selection with VCDs. I've set up the startup video to be a menu. When I put the VCD into my Panasonic RV-80 the start up sequence is not counted (or is treated as 0) so that the first menu item is played by selecting 1. In my Cyberhome CH-402 it treats the startup sequence as number 1, so the first menu item is treated as sequence number 2. The Panasonic says there are 6 sequences on the VCD while the Cyberhome says there are 7.

When I try to play the VCD on my computer, it also sees only 6 sequences, so this points at the Cyberhome DVD player as the problem.

Has anyone else seen this problem? I'm new to creating VCDs so I'm hoping this is just a software issue. I'm using Roxio's VCD Creator.

  2. Rather than making pseudo-menus, it is perhaps you try making some real ones where you can control exactly what each button does:
