  1. I am considering picking up either a PS2 or an Xbox. I want a console that allows me to make backups of my games easily. Which of these two are more compatible with home-burned games? I have children that can be downright brutal with media

If anyone here has had experience with backups for either system, please add your knowledge so that I may purchase the better system.

  2. I know that PS2 requires a MOD chip to be installed to play backups (I have 2 dogs that can be downright brutal with media) unless you somehow have a "magic" PS2. Not sure about XBox.

  3. Some PS2 games can be copied easily. XBOX games to copy them you have to hook up your XBOX to your PC then rip the files to the PC that way. They both require a mod chip to play copied games. I hope this helps some

  4. Yea children brutal with media....right of course

    PS2 needs a mod-chip

Games can be copied 1:1 with CDRWIN or Nero

    X-Box needs a mod-chip

Games need to be downloaded or copied through a PC, built back up and may need protection taken off (not sure on that last part)

PS2 mod-chip needs soldering and it isn't easy

X-Box has a mod-chip you screw into the board, very easy. A red light says wasnt done right, a green light says yes.

    Just alittle more info provided.

  5. Xbox games are fairly simple to backup.

Yes both systems require modchips to play them, I think PS2 has a no solder mod, and I know that Xbox does because I have one.

Either way to fully enjoy them make sure you have a dvd burner.

  6. Yeah, pick xbox, it's great! I put a solder-free mod chip, and installed a 120GB HD. So I can copy games directly to HD and play from there, no need to ftp to PC. You can also instal media player and put avi/Divx/mpeg file either on HD/DVD/CDRW or stream from another PC and play it on XBOX. You will love it.
