My DVD player can play VCDs and SVCDs.
Assuming I can convert my audio files to AC-3 or MP2, etc
Can I create an Audio-only SVCD so that I can get a large amount of (compressed) audio files on the CD?
Thanks

You might be able to, I can play audio only VCD`s in my Pioneer 525 player. With Tmpeg you just select the audio+system stream in the lower right corner. Convert your wav, mp3 etc to mp2 audio and burn the tracks to a VCD. With a bitrate of 224 you can get around 8 hours of audio.
I have to this as my DVD player can`t play MP3 CD`s.
