Hi,
I have the following problem: when I convert a divx (or any other source) to vcd with tmpge, the color turn to blue/purple, and then snaps back to normal, this goes on thrye the whole movie.
Anyone had this problem before, or knows what it could be?
Sorry for my bad English, my native language is dutch.
Thanks in advance,
Pascal.

I just searched this site some more, and found the problem: in tmpge, go to options, environmental setting, VFAPI-plugin, right-click on directshow multimedia file reader, and chance the priority to 1 or 2.
For a better explanation look here: http://www.vcdhelp.com/tmpgenc.htm#problems

:P you probably have an XVID file. There are posts on this site explaining how to encode these files using TMPGenc, you just need to prioritise the Directshow filter under VFAPI tools.
However, one way I have found is to load the file into VDUB and save the video back out with full processing mode. go into compression and save using low motion divx 3, also save without audio.
Thren save audio as an uncompressed wave. You should now be able to use these 2 files in TMPGenc. There may be some out of synch between the two, use the Audio delay under TMPGenc to delay and fit the two!
Hope this helps. -

I then uncompressed the audio stream and saved that out as a wave file.
Then in TMPGenc you choose these two files as your sources. The delay is found in SETTINGS and you should be able to see the source tab at the top. Double click and it should open a preview screen. If you have a large full movie then you would use this to choose the size to fit your CD, Audio delay is at the bottom and needs experimentation to establish required delay on movie.
I found first part of the movie was in synch but 2nd half wan't - no idea why! I looked at the error message I was getting in vdub, which stated that it had VBR sound, and tried to guess how much I needed. Remember that the delay is in thousands of a second so 1000 ms = 1 second. You can try putting a - sign in front of the amount to change it. Vdub does indicate which was it is for audio playing early!
I have had a quick look at the second CD of goldmember and it appears to be in synch, so this method appeared to work for me. Can only suggest try it and see if it works for you. Let me know if you need any more info!
In answer to the question is it easier, I am sure it may be but what works for one may not work for another. A colleague who tried to use TMPGenc to encode by using the change of VFAPI settings could not get it to work or even open. B T W I was using version 2.58
Just another way as XVID appears to be quite a frustrating codec but the quality is excellent. You should also note that I saw a post stating that TMPGenc needed a certain ' NTL.DLL' file copied to the root folder of it. Not sure if this helped but I did this as well.
Maybe when we get a DVD player that takes all AVI files including XVID we won't need this!!
