I am capturing VHS to AVI. Do capture interlaced or de-interlaced. Same question with Hi8 tapes.
Is there something on this website that explains interlaced and non-interlaced, and when to use each?
TIA,
-Tom

If you want to watch the video on both pc and t.v. then you have to de-interlace. If just for t.v. only you can leave it interlaced.

Generally you capture in interlaced. What you do with it form there is anotehr issue. What the final product is going to be determines if you have/need to de-interlace. DivX/XviD yes, MPEG-1/2 the encoder will deal with it.
