I have some video files that are in MPEG1 format. I would like to create a SVCD of these files and from what I understand an SVCD disc needs to be in MPEG2 format. Is it possible to convert thse MPEG1 files to MPEG2 format or do I just have to burn a standard VCD?

    Thanks

I've never done it but you may be able to open the mpeg file with TMPG and reencode it to anything you want......

  3. It's possible with TMPGEnc but I wouldn't recommend. You have lower quality video (VCD) and you want to convert it to SVCD. REMEMBER - you won't get better quality, but your file size will double with the conversion.

    I wouldn't recommend!

  4. It will more than likely look worse, due to the fact you are using a greater resolution from a lower resolution source, and the original file will only have vcd bitrate. (assuming that the mpeg1 is VCD compliant)
