  1. are there softwares out there i can use to convert mpeg to divx format without decreasing the quality of the video?

  2. No matter what you do, there will be some decrease in quality. The two formats are totally different so you will be decoding one and then encoding into the other. This will always lead to a decrease in quality. All you can do is attempt to minimize the drop.

    Yo Man, the best programme to use is VIRTUAL DUB.

  6. Really, all you need is something that can open an MPG and save an AVI and allows you to specify the codec.

    Personally, I'd go along with marvel2020 and use VirtualDub.
