I try to use CEE 2.5 version to encode my avi file to mpeg-2 file.
I drag an one minute avi file and drop it to the window of CEE without any problem. After encoding, I can use it in DVDit for the preparation of burning DVD-R.
However, when I try to drag an one hour avi file and drop it in the CEE window, CEE refuses to accept it.
In fact, the one mintue avi file is cut from the one hour avi file.
Can you advise me how to do?

From the user guide of CEE, it mentions that CEE could not accept avi files which size exceeds 2GB. I guess my one hour avi file exceeds 2GB.
If I have to cut the avi file into two parts and encode them into two separate mpeg-2 files, if there anyway that I can join them together? -
You could open the avi in Virtual Dub and save as segmented avi. Then open the first segment and frameserve to CCE.

Another option is using VFAPI and feeding the file to CCE through it. Works like a charm, especially under W2K.

Hello Ebaldino,
Could you teach me how to use VFAPI to feed the avi file to CEE? -
Sure thing.
1. Get and install VFAPI 1.03b (for me, works best under W2K, although the interface is poor).
2. Click on the "add job" button and find and select your AVI file.
3. Choose where your output file will reside and what its name will be.
4. Click on the "convert" button. This will create a new AVI file on your disk but it is only a "front-end" to your real AVI file (you can notice itīll be very small).
5. Open CCE and process the new AVI file as you would any other AVI file. VFAPI will feed your real AVI file through.
best regards

BTW, just to make sure: we are talking about "CCE" (CinemaCraftEncoder), and not something called "CEE", right?

Dear Truman,
I followed your method but CCE failed to encode my avi file.
1. I doubleclik Proxyon.reg, and then start Virtualdub.
2. I open my avi file and start frameserver. Save the file as name.avi
3. Start CCE and drag and drop the name.avi in CCE window, and start encoding.
FIrst, I test a avi file with one minute footage. CCE encoded it without problem. I can use the mpeg-2 file in DVDit.
Then, I test another avi file with one hour footage. CCE failed. It gave me the following comment:
CCE encoding failed:
Error: Video check-sum is different from that of previous pass. Source video data or time code may be different.
Information Current : check sum = 030df79d
Previous: chech sum = 030df213
Could you suggest how I can make CCE work with me?
Regards,
p.s. Thank you Ebaldino. I'll try your way tonight. Yes, I am using Cinema Craft Encoder 2.5 in W2k. My CCE is SDK version 2.50. By the way, what is SDK version? -
jbl375
This is a problem of CCE 2.5 - when frameserving an avi file, it frequently (in my case, always) gives this error. You can try a few more times, but the only way around that I know of is to get CCE 2.25, that is bug-free and simply great! I do not have installation files, but try to search the net.
[Amazing how often in our days new products just suck in comparison with their predecessors!] -
jbl375, CCE worked with the first file, that means your frameserver setup is correct.
The 2nd failed. Maybe the file names were equal, so the 2nd time CCE tried to encode on base of the first .vaf. Rename the first .vaf or delete it.
CCE encodes AVI files up to 2 GB.
