  1. Ok, I'm new to all this so bare with me.

I bought a Panasonic DVD-RV32 several months ago. Recently I bought a digi cam and burned about 100 pictures from my digi cam onto a CD-R. I made sure to finalize the CD during the process (I use Nero). However, when I popped it into the dvd player, it says it can't read the disk. I've tried this with 2 different CD-R's that I've burned with pics from my digi cam.

Any idea what is wrong? Can I have subdirectories on the CD-R? Does it matter? The player is SUPPOSED to play CD-R disks without problem. Please help, thanks.

You have to make your disk playable as a VCD or SVCD. You can use Nero or VCD Easy or other freeware, or you can go the deluxe route and buy a specialized software like Photo2VCD. A guide for this sw was just posted on this site:

Search the forums on this site. There have been a lot of posts lately on this subject.

  3. I had thought it would just play em without VDC or SVCD. My brother has an el'cheapo DVD player he bought new for like $50 and it plays jpegs on a CDR without problem, damn.

Ok so I *HAVE* to create a VCD right?

I thought VCDs could only contain AVIs and MPEGs. They can contain JPEGs too? or do I need that Photo2VCD software in order to put jpegs on a VCD?

    Thanks for your help!

It's really no biggie. If you are interested in interactivity (use remote to control the playback of your photos) or if you want sound in the background, you will need a commercial software like the one I mentioned. If you just want to view photos on your TV with a minimum of bells and whistles, just use Nero. The help file gives you the step by step. You probably used Nero to burn the pictures to the CD in the first place, and so this is just a few extra steps to make it a Photo VCD.

    Good luck,
