  1. I have couple of VCDs, which get hanged during playback on DVD player and computer. They have fairly good print but somewhere in the middle frame start dropping and VCD completed stop and all I see is block of broken frame. If I stop or forward that senses it then start working and play the what ever left.

Another day I converted DAT file from VCD to mpeg using VCDGear and reburned it on VCD but problem did not get fix. I really thought it was bad CD but after converting to mpeg and play off my harddrive proves that it was not CD some thing wrong with movie because I got same problem

Can any body suggest some thing to fix this problem

    Thank you, -Rauf

It sounds like your VCD is corrupt, either a bad frame, bad sequence header or something else.

You could try using first the software called mpeg corrector which is available in the tools section of this website.

Alternatively you could also read this guide: http://www.vcdhelp.com/faq.htm#repairmpg

Should a corrupt frame be your problem that non of the above solutions fixes, you could try re-encoding it. Should your encoder hang at a certain point, note which frame was causing this problem and cut it, or use a "source range" for input. For example if frame 43605 is corrupt encode from 0-43604 and then from 43606 to the end (providing this is the only corrupt frame).
