Hey people, i was wondering how can i make a menu for the files inside a VIDEO_TS folder using TSUNAMI-MPEG DVD Author PRO?? (TMPGEnc DVD Author)
And i was wondering is there any way i can sorted the edges of a film to normal widescreen size? (The black edges at the top and bottom which make it widescreen are to far into the film as you can see in the picture below i have drawn a line were the edges come into)
How can i sorten these to about half there original length at the moment? Can it done with Virtual DUB if so how?
Thank You
Chana

To begin with, using Window Media Player to show you what a DVD looks like is a pointless exercise. It is possibly the worst DVD playing software written, and in no way shows you how the disc will actually fill the screen.
If this is in fact how the disc appears on your TV then the simplest solution is to go and buy the actual DVD, which has been correctly encoded, instead of some bogus bootleg encoded with inferior quality.
As for your tmpgenc question - look to the guides section (to your left) or the User Guides forum. There are plenty of guides on how to add menus to existing DVDs using TDA.Read my blog here.

What EXACTLY are you asking for
TDA has a number of built-in menu formats which are accessed as shown below
http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/tsunami_mpeg_dvd_author_pro_guide_page_5.cfm
If,however, you're asking how to create these templates in the first place, then at the moment there is no easy way to do this.
They are stored in the "template" folder in TDA in a proprietary format used only by TDA
You could try a visit to the TMPG Inc homepage and download some newer templates if you're not keen on those provided.

Hope that helps
EDIT: spelling mistake correctedDon't worry.......we'll be alright... -

The above in brackets are parts of a film iv backed up to my hard drive as you already know, what i want to do now is make a menu for these files so that when burned to dvd disc and played it'll have the menu i created hopefully using TDA and play the whole film as one whole film not individual files (so it stops after VTS_01_1, then starts VTS_01_2 etc...
Hope this helps you understand what im trying to figure out...

If you are in doubt how to get the video into TDA, open SET SOURCE window and drag the file VIDEO_TS.IFO to its centre. Then follow the wizard. Confirm 'import chapter information' at importing a track and set 'new track' for next one (if your DVD has more than one VTS and files like VTS_02_x). Then select menu template and edit text for buttons.

When played on a dvd player it will play as one whole film wont it?? or will it stop for 2-3seconds while it loads say the second file (VTS_01_1, VTS_01_2...)
-
It will play seamlessly, the files VTS_01_1, VTS_01_2, VTS_01_3.. will be automatically placed in the same track (VTS).
-
I draged the VIDEO_TS.IFO to the centre and got a error message saying "Invaild video file" only acepts MPEG-1 & 2...
So what do i do now? -
Strange, it always works unless you try to add VOBs or other files in 'file' import mode. Try to find button like 'import DVD video' (not a file) and browse for your folder. Previously select PAL/NTSC in start window.
Does your DVD play if you drag VIDEO_TS.IFO file to Media Player Classic? -
For the record this movie ... HOT FUZZ ... has been officially released on DVD in the UK which is where the person asking the question is from.
It was released there on June 11, 2007 so ... for all we know this person is simply making a back-up copy for himself etc.

Why not just buy the DVD, you'll get the menus then......
-
From the error messages it looks like you're trying to make a PAL DVD with an NTSC source file.
