  1. O.K my problem advanced DVD-R experts. l just can't seem to understand why this is happening, so here we go. l am burning DVD-R's with no problem using a pioneer A04 onto Verbatim datasafe media. Great media as you will know, burns at two speed which compliments the A04. However l don't push the pioneer writer so l burn at one speed to the Verbatim media. This should give me the best quality burn from both the media and writer as this is well within both its limits. With me so far? Good, right my film plays perfect no freezing or any kind of problem on playback in the standalone player, (Bush 2024 which is brand new just got it, plays cd-r mp3, etc. So why is it the next day when l play the same film, it struggles and freezes up? (Now my opinion) the Disc which l have burned has not changed the data is the same, if my player plays the disc one day all the way throught, then how, and why will it not play the next day? this to me just does not make any kind of sense? and yes l have made sure the disc is immaculate before it goes into the player. Please give me any opinion you may have to this as l really am at a lost on this problem, l would so much like to hear any solution or reason.

  2. O.K a little bit more info for you..l have let my standalone player cool off for a while and have played the same film which has passed the stages of freezing and is now again playing fine. Would anyone say that if a standalong player becomes too warm or is played continuously that this makes it more difficult to play DVD-R's. Does anybody else suffer from this same problem?

  3. hi, I did have the same problem on my koss dvd player, it plays good when it was cool but when it starts to warm up like in the middle of the movie it starts to freeze and skip until it will just stop on one scene....
But I found my problem it was the media.. the player didn't really like the media..I change to a different one and it works now..

    try another media ..

    just my 2 cents

  4. You think it's the media or the player then?
I have a few movies that will play fine in my dvdrom, but in my standalone it freezes up, I've burned mult. discs, reencode etc and it seemed to freeze in exactly the same places.

I'm using generic 2X media, haven't had problems out of the 30 or so dvd's I've done except for 2 of them, so maybe it is the media?

    Comments?

  5. Thanks for the repies, it should not be the media as Verbatim is very good quality and the main reason l use it was to get away from the freezing pics that l had with all the other brands, trust me been there and done that. So back to main point this film is now playing problem free on the standalone player today, it must as l hate to say it, very hit and miss.
So much for reliabilty and quality playback every time.

  6. I think it is the laser not reading the disc properly. Because i use dvdr discs on Xbox for games and you can put in one minute and it plays then the next time xbox gives error it can't read disc, turn off Xbox and turn back on and disc works. It is the same with my set top player, i can watch a film and towards end it will pixelize and knockout the sync between movie and audio eject disc put back in and it works.

I have 1 or 2 original movies that do this too. and it is always at same place but when i play them on another player or in rom they are fine.

I don't think it has anything to do with heat because the discs get created in this way, They play perfect in dvd-rom and there is more heat in your system than a set top player will generate.

Has you said i think it is hit and miss with the discs.
