Has Anyone ripped Lotr Extended Version
The movie is spread over 2 discs.
chapters 1 - 27 Disc 1
chapters 28 - 48 Disc 2
Is there anyway i can join the ripped vobs so that when i re-encode i can get this onto 1 dvdr.
If so could someone explain the steps involved please.

try vobmerge:
http://www.digital-digest.com/dvd/downloads/vobmerge.html
just put the vobs you want to combine into program and select "merge" -

If it gives you trouble, I'll just say that the 4-disc version is worth buying.

I'm with Mirror. If they put that much effort into a disc set, it would be considerate to buy it.
If you're making a back up... then by all means. I would probably re-encode the video so it took up less space. Also, in doing so, it would be quite easy to join the MPEG files. -
I have the normal version anyway.
In the end i have given up woth it and put it on 2 discs now anyway...
