  1. I capture a lot of video from TV using PowerVCRII and convert to SVCD format using TMPGEN. Trouble is, the output file is usually too large for one CD. I have tried a number of programs to split the file, all with no success
    1. DVDTOOL - cuts the file but the second file usually has no audio
    2. AVI2MPG (via TMP to de-multiplex the audio/video) - again cuts the file but the second file (and I presume others) have out of sync or bad audio
    3. TMPG itself - usually hangs as soon as I load the mpeg file and try to select a cut point

So at the moment I am forced to convert segments from the output from PVCRII into about 600mb chunks which is a bit tedious since it cannot be automatic

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

  2. I'm going to assume that you don't have the most curren vs of tmpge . In any case ry hitting the run button before you do your split/mege.

  3. No I am running with TMG 2.53 and also have tried TMP Plus. I load the file into the merge/split screen, press RUN (no output file selected error), then try to double click the file to be split to set the times. TMPG just hangs and needs to be killed manually

  4. I find this method of splitting much more successful ...and faster.

Open the movie in TMPGE and then set it up as normal(templates etc)....
Then using the Source Range set start point and end point (ie:halfway point).
Go to File > Save Project..(movie-pt1)
Then go back in to TMPGE.
Go to Source Range again to set up second half of movie.
Save project again ..movie-pt2 (remember to set Output to part 1 and 2 respectively).
Then ...File > Batch Enocode > Add > Movie pt1 and movie pt2 > Run.

  5. Forgot to mention...
So,in effect you are encoding and splitting at the same time.

  6. Yes, What I was doing was encoding the entire movie ot TV show but the final file ended up being too big for a CD. So I had to cut it - hence the problem. But using TMPG to select the range to encode, creating a number of separate projects each processing a range of the whole movie, I can effectively end up with mpg segments each of the right size to fit on a CDR

  7. Tried that earlier. Process works okay but the second and subsequent files either have completely out of sync sound or are unplayable. Hence the original questions

    Thanks anyway
