  2. This won't be much help, but I have found that after I use VCDGear to switch the .DAT back to an .MPG file, and after I demux the .MPG in TMPGEnc, I get errors when trying to import the .m2v into DVD Maestro. I have to re-encode the file for VCD format in TMPGEnc before Maestro likes it. Not sure why that is. It should work without issue.

I don't know if the stream is getting a wee bit corrupted when copying from the VCD to the hard drive or when VCDGear is doing the .DAT to .MPG conversion.

So watch out for that. Haven't tried to throw it into any other authoring programs yet.

  5. maybe the best u can do is follow what nickel did.. re-encode the movie then re-author it.. i havent done it personally myself but i think that would be a wiser way to do it...

I have just completed my second VCD to DVD conversion. This is how I did it. Ran the movie through TMPGE to make it standard VCD mpg file. Then using DVDit SE v.2.5.2 I started a new project. Make sure on the type you change it to Mpeg1 DVD. Make your menus, load your movies, verify the size and then author the DVD and burn it. I use Nero to burn.

  7. Thanks for that link, bugster. This stood out to me:

Note 5! This only works for VCD PAL 25 fps and VCD NTSC 29,97 fps, not VCD NTSCFilm 23,976.

This may be the problem. I think most of my VCDs from film are 23,976. So a transcoding (aka re-encoding) is necessary in that situation. DANG!

Hard drive is full right now on a home video capture to DVD-R project, so I can't test this for a week or so.
