  1. Hi...i'm bother by the problem about the my stupid PS2 not reading my dvd-r discs...I don't know why it happened now but it was working fine a few months ago and now when I put it it and it can read in the Browser but when it start to read it goes into a black screen and said " Unable to read disc"...Can anyone in here can help me out...I have burned lot of my dvd-r and I really hate to throw them all away just because of that...I spend lot of $$$ on those discs...Any suggestion will do...I'm very despressed rite now. Thank you

  2. hey, maybe you need to update your DVD drivers. I had this exact same problem with my PS2 not too long ago and when I updated my drivers my DVD-R's were playing just fine.

    If your PS2 used to play DVD-R's then the problem is most likely the laser calibration, if you think you have the skills to adjust it your self then there is a guide here. This link also has info on some other neat stuff you can do with your PS2 like playing VCD's (yes it is possible but probably not worth the hassle since you have a DVD burner

    Compatibility reports can be found here along with information on which models of PS2 work with what media.

    The driver update mentioned by wakuwaku may solve the problem but it is best to get as much info as you can before trying anything.

  5. trust me I had the same problem. Is your playstation 2 down flat? For some reason its works much better when its on its side, just put it on its side and it should work.

  6. do you need a mod chip to play dvd-r's, or is that just cd-r's?

  7. Thank for all the replies...but where can I find a PS2 updated driver. I don't know if you guyz read my message but I mentioned that my PS2 read my dvd-r but when I press X-enter, it goes to the black screen and it said "unable to read disc" why is that happened??
