    I have an AVI file that is 1.86 gig big. What program should I use to get it to a smaller sized MPG file?

    1) your avi prolly has an unpacked audio... (WAV prolly)
    2)MPG's aren't smaller, in fact, they're even bigger

    but get TMPG if you want to convert the AVI to an MPG
    Wanne earn something a couple of dollars?
