most of the films i copy are action films, been using the default settings in dvd2svcd and been happy with the results, but now i could do with some help.
i am trying to get the best picture i can, what bitrate setting should i have? i don't mind the film being on 3 disks if the quality is there.
also what are the best settings for the encoder progs i don't mind which one i use just not sure what to change to get the desired result.
i know there is a lot of info on this forum about these subjects, but when i start reading about it i start to get bogged down by all the info flying around, anyone willing to help me out? as you might have quessed i am new to this and any help would be grateful

One of the most important concepts is higher bitrate, higher quality. If you dont mind three disks, then determine the time length of the film(s.) Then on the bitrate tab adjust the minutes, number of disks used and size on one of the rows as follows:
Between XX and YY Make YY just a few minutes more than the length of the movie. Also, make sure there is no overlap of the time lengths among the rows
Use 3
CD size 800
I'm not familiar with CCE. For TMPGenc I think 2-pass VBR provides better quality, the community seems to be divided about 50/50 between 2-pass VBR and CQ as to which provides better quality. Whichever you use for the "best" quality select a motion precision of highest quality (The difference in quality between high quality and highest quality is not a whole lot, however the encoding time difference can be substantial (over 5 hours with 1gig system for a 120 minute movie) but you said you wanted the best quality.) With these settings you should get excellant quality SVCD's. However, depending upon your system spec's and the length of the movie it could take up to 48 hours per movie.
