  1. I'm having problems with movement lines.

I use Smartripper or DVD Decrypter to rip the VOB files from a DVD. Then I use DVD2AVI to make an m2v and d2v file. The movie is too big to fit on a 4.3GB DVD so I re-encode in TMPGenc using the m2v file which reads the VOBs.
Problem is when there is fast camera movement on the movie I get these horizontal lines around the area of movement. I can get rid of them using de-interlace settings but this adds some blur which wasn't on the original DVD.

Can anyone help with settings please?

If you are planning on viewing the video on a TV, don't worry about it (and don't de-interlace) - you won't see the lines on a TV.

  3. Thanx for replying. THe thing is, I've burned a DVD I ripped and I could see the lines on TV!! When I used DVD2AVI there was a setting on there that said PC/TV but I've seen guides saying use PC. Is this correct?

  5. What setting do you have for interlace? Are these interlace problems? That would be every other line being out of whack around the area of movement.

TMPGenc has a setting for bottom field and top field, and it sounds like yours is set wrong. See

but you could try just encoding with the other setting and seeing if that fixed the problem. (This is a recommend course of action in several guides, partly because "field A" and "Field B" are used in a random fashion by programs.)

Please post your solution if you resolve the problem.
