Is it possible to adjust the contrast of the video when capturing from VHS through my Sony TRV-740 Digital8 camcorder? I capture with Premiere 6.5. Thanks...

Not during capture. You have to do it afterwards with a Premiere video filter. That's the one problem with capturing from a camcorder -- you don't get the realtime control of stuff liek contrast that video capture cards give you. (On the other hand, you get much better quality capture than on most computer video cards...)
