my problem is i have some old dj sets on cassette off a few years ago and also some video footage of me doing the sets,i would like to know,
the cassette quality is good but the audio on the vid footage is awful.
1.how do i transfer the cassette music to my comp so i can place it on cd

How about plugging a tape deck into your sound card's input?
Why would you want to put the music on a VCD? -
i want the music on my vcd and also my mixes put onto cd,and thanks i'll try that out,and i am completely new so does that just plug in the mic socket or somewhere else m8,and would that result in loss of sound quality i need to know if its possible to hook up my stereo system to my comp

Check out this web page:

That company has everything you need! You could probably get the cables at your local Radio Shack. If you explain to them what you are trying to do they will know what kind of cable to get you.
This is the kind of cable you are looking for:
Of course you want two MALE RCA on your cable (the one in the picture is 2 FEMALE RCA).
You want to plug into the Line In input on your soundcard and not your mic input. It will sound better!
Hope this helps!dj matty b
