I have some divx avi's i downloaded so I don't know if they are interlaced or not. When i use the video source in tmpgenc it defaults to noninterlaced. I have a widescreen tv connected to my dvd by composite. The tv does progressive scan when connected this way (the dvd player does progressive scan as well). My question is this. Is there a need to encode using interlace with the tv doing progressive scan? I get faster encoding speeds when doing noninterlaced output but I want to make sure I don't lose quality and introduce jerkiness. I have read what I could find on the forum about interlaced and I realize that the general rule of them is to keep the video output interlaced when possible but I don't know if these source avi's are interlaced. Thanks for any info.
