  1. I've just Burnt my first VCD but the picture keeps freezing I also get coloured squares on my screen. I used a already made VCD and converted the Dat file to a Mpeg and then burnt the VCD using Adaptec software using the guide off this web site and then playing it on my Philips 701 DVD player. I dont know why the picture freezes any one got any ideas other wise I might just quit before I have started LOL
    Cheers

    Never say never, I burn all my VCD's at 24 speed on 32 speed intenso media with no problems. Just ordered a 52 speed liteon burner and 48 speed intenso media, will see how fast I can go.

    @maduncledai,
    The first rule of thumb when posting a question like that in this forum is to try to include as many details as you can in your post concerning your conversion process. Things such as frame rate and codec of the original file, what tools you used such as did you use TMPGEnc or another MPEG encoder and what template you selected, did you load up the file directly or frameserve it thru another application such as DVD2AVI, VirtualDub, avisynth, ect. Also what burning software did you use? Did you use any other program to author the VCD such as VCDEasy? The more you tell us the easier it is to answer your question.

    Sorry to dazzel you with all the techno babble, but the point I was trying to make was to try and provide as much information as you can. Anywhere along your conversion process could have intoduced the problem your seeing. Try listing the steps you took:
    Information on the source avi file such as the audio/video codecs.
    The tool you used to convert to MPEG for example: TMPGEnc, Cinema Craft Encoder, Ligos. ect.
    The burning software for example: Roxio Easy CD Creator, Nero Burning Rom, ect.
    Another thing, unless you have an extremely old CD burner or using cheap media the burning speed isn't going to play much into this since I burn at the max rate the media supports and it's never been an issue for me.
