  1. Hi, I followed the "Best Way To Convert a 320x240 Low Bitrate DivX to VCD" but when the encoding is done I check the file and I get an 800mb video..I don't think its exactly normal considering that I'm encoding at 1150 and the video is only 23 minutes long. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

  2. Well that 800 MB MPEG1 will fit on a 700 MB CD since VCD is burned in Mode 2 using smaller sectors. As for the size vs. time I am not sure why.
Panasonic DMR-ES45VS, keep those discs a burnin'

  3. A 23 minute video should only be around 230 MB if it was encoded with VCD specs. So if it's 800 MB the bitrate must be higher than 1150kbps. What did you use to encode, TMPGEnc ? Did you use a VCD template

  4. I didn't use a template, I just unlocked all the settings, and configured it according to vcd standards but changed the aspect ratio to 1:1{VGA} aside from that, the size is 352x240, and bitrate is set at 1150...

  5. Try using the VCD template, because for the file to be that size the bitrate has to be higher than 1150

  6. Have you tried playing the resulting mpeg coz a lot of divx's are encoded with VBR audio. Tmpgenc doesn't like this and gets all confused about the video length, usually extending it greatly, encoding a load of blank video onto the end of the file.

If this is the case, extract the audio from the avi with virtualdub, convert to uncompressed PCM and use that as the audio source when you encode.
