  2. Just copy them to your hard drive ,then:
TMPGE > File > Mpeg Tools > Merge and Cut > Select Type (VCD non standard etc) > Add > Movie 1,Movie 2 > Output > Run.

  3. Another newbie question: Would the merged file then have to be converted to some kind of DVD format before burning to DVD? I've got TMPGEnc and "My DVD" or some such software that came with the Sony DRU500A.

    Thanks

  4. If I have a divx or mpeg file and I want to convert it to a DVD i have to first convert it to a .m2v file? What program do I use for this?

You need to resample the audio from 44.1khz to 48khz, you dont need to reencode the video as DVD will accept VCD video specs.

If you have a DVD compliant mpeg2 file you need to demultiplex it, this splits the video stream from the audio stream. This will give you an m2v(video) file and an mp2(audio file). If the file is divx You need to encode it for compliance for DVD specs.

TMPGEnc can be used for everything you need to do. If you are encoding from divx you can select the encoded output to be in m2v+mp2 rather than mpeg2. This saves you demultiplexing it after encoding.
