Trying to back up Total Recall which is single layer(4.29gigs). I used Decrypter and selected ISO read. After reading i went back and selected to ISO write. But when i select the Total Recall file that it made, there are 2 of them. One is 48kb and the other is 3.9gigs. Which one? thanks for your help!

UPDATE;
Well i selected the little file. The disc ended up being 4.xgigs. But it wont play in my DVD player. It recognizes it as a dvd but you can hear it spinning and trying to read it. I am using Verbatim media w/ my pioneer104. I checked the disc out and it has the files on there. Dont understand why its not working. -
you can select the bigger file... have you tried computer dvd player? or only your standalone dvd player? It could be that your standalone wont read those dvd-r's?
Zzzzzzz -
I have tried my stand alone unit(toshiba) and my Pioneer104. Which both dont read.

I have used DVD Decrypter just as you did several times with no problems.
1. Did you check the "burn-proof" box? This box needs to be checked.
2. Usually Write will select the correct file to write.
3. Some of the Verbatium Disks have been recalled or will not work {Verbatium 2X DVD-R, purchased before Oct 31, 2002}.
I have Sony DRU 500A DVD RW, in DELL computer. -
Yeap the Burn Proof box is checked. I purchase the Verbatim Datalife DVD-Rs from BestBuy 2 weeks ago. They work perfect on my Playstation2 though.

Last night I used DVD Decrypter to read, then write US Marshals:
When I finished Reading, I had only 2 Files, these files were not in any folder.
I made a folder "VIDEO_TS, then placed the 2 files into this folder.
Then I used the DVD Decrypter ISO Write feature, selected the Folder, and DVD Decrypter did the rest. {NOTE: under setting, "ISO" All boxes were checked, and "Maximum File Size" was set to NONE.}
On the "ISO Write Main Screen" the only box checked is BURN-proof, setting : Data Type=MODE1/2048.
If this don't work try going to setting and resetting defaults:
I always enable streaming in IFO MODE and check off all subtitles and other audios except English.
The DVD-R that was produced works in my computer AND my 3 year old sony home DVD player.
Final note: I never close or finalize any DVD. {I tried this once and then it did NOT work in home unit}. -
I'm not having much luck. I used PrimoDVD and did the Global Image method. It read the DVD fine. Burned to a DVD-R fine. But wont play. My DVD player on my computer says insert a DVD disc and IFOedit shows a green screen.

but I dont understand how you can failed that DVD decrypter method?
I have the same pioneer 104 and I have done 30 copies from DVD-5 disks and all have worked fine!
This what I have done with DVD Decrypter:
"Mode" -> "ISO" -> "READ" and named the file something.iso
"Mode" -> "ISO" -> "WRITE" and open that something.iso
BURN
thats it...
If that wont workthen it must be those verbatim discs??? or your pioneer 104 is broken???
Zzzzzzzzzzz -
My Pioneer 104 isnt broken cause i backed up a tons of PS2 games and never had a problem. I also dont understand why this aint working. But someone told me that Verbatim recalled some of their DVD-R discs but i havent seen anything.
-
I received a pink NOTICE from SONY, 2X DVD-R verbatim disks may not work if they were purchased before Oct 30, 2002.
I would also try uninstalling DVD Decrypter, then reinstall. -

Go to this link http://www.verbatim.com/ , click on support on the left side of page, in the new window click on the "BLUE" product line box and highlite DVD-R {DVD}, then click submit. The most popular FAQ is the following:
1. Q: How do I receive replacements for defective product?
A: Any defective product can be returned to: Verbatim Corporation 1200 W T Harris Blvd Charlotte, NC 28262 Attn: Tech Support -
So they will replace my remaining untouched DVD-Rs with a new 15 pack?
