    Hello capturers!

    I'm asking this question because I know I'll get impartial advice from you, which I wouldn't get from a salesperson.

    I'm currently using a standard scart to 3-jack gold plated AV lead to capture from VHS to Canopus ADVC-100. Would there be any benefit to capture quality by using scart to s-video/line-in?

    Best wishes,

    Rob

  2. If your VCR has S-video out, I would definitely use it. You should notice a difference in terms of interference and color.

    If your VCR is not s-video compatible quality will DECREASE not increase.

    And you may get a black and white picture.

    Hi
    Where does it say he DOES have s-video out on his VCR????

    My comment was aimed at his AV(Scart) to s-video connection.

    Calrification:

    The VCR only has scart output. I am using a scart adapter that has the standard L+R audio sockets, a video socket and a s-video socket. The Canopus has the same sockets.

    The audio is already sorted, so should I use:

    scart:video out ==========> video in

    or

    scart-video out =========> s-video in

    Many thanks for your time on this matter.

    I have EXACTLY the same setup.

    If your VCR does not have a seperate s-video connection it is 99% certain of being INCOMPATIBLE with s-video.

    I tried to run the scart to s-video setup and the colour kept going funny.

    I changed to composite or video phono (whatever its called in your neck of the woods) and haven't looked back :P

    I'm beginning to think the same way....whenever I capture using s-video, I get a wierd 'hatched' effect, as if there's a net curtain over the minitor. I know the lead works OK because output to a TV from my TV-out card is crystal clear.
    My VCR must not be up to to job. Ho hum...

    Thanks for your help,

    Rob
