  1. im trying to back up one of my dvds that has a second audio track with the director's commentary. i think i followed all the logical steps but maybe i missed a few...here is what i did:
ripped with smart ripper; used dvd2avi twice one for the regular movie audio and the other to get the directors commentary; then i encoded each one (the video, movie audio , commentary audio) sepertatly through tmgenc and then multyplexed the files; then i used dvdit to author and when i burned it ONLY the regular movie audio was playing...
i could not switch to audio 2....the player acted as though there wasn't a trac 2...
is it possible that i need to create maybe new ifo files to let the player recognise that it has 2 audio tracs...
or did i miss a step....
    any ideas out there

  2. DVD2AVI can demux all the soundtracks at the same time (Audio...Output Method...Demux All Tracks). There is no need to run it multiple times to get different tracks. Also, the audio tracks that DVD2AVI demuxes don't need to be encoded with TMPGEnc. They are already in a format that is ready to be imported into your authoring sofware. I wasn't sure why you were running them thru TMPGEnc

As for the switching sound tracks, I have read that some DVD's will let you switch on the fly, while some require you to use the menu. I guess it is determined by how you author the disc. Did you try creating a simple menu to change soundtracks?

  3. hi there,
    sorry for the late reply..
with my authoring program (dvd it) i dont think i can import 2 wav files and an encoded video and then create a menu that allows one wav file or the other to be played with the video...i think you have to have the video and the audio already encoded and mulitplexed for dvd it to author it...
maybe im wrong...if you know of a way to do it...dont hesitate to correct me...
it seems like the only way for me to have 2 soundtracks is to have 2 movies one with each soundtrack...but there's got to be a way for me to mulitplex 1 video with the 2 audio so that i could just switch from one soundtrack to another...there has to be a way..
by the way dvd it wont accept just a wav file...it has to be encode first with tmpgenc...or at least i couldn't get it to work ....
    any suggestions?
