  1. Hi,

Have been having problems encoding a divx.avi file into svcd or vcd using TMPGenc. I am using the templates provided with TMPGenc Plus and have successfully encoded other avi files before but when I try encoding it just encodes the picture without any sound ! The encoding does not reach 100% but does encode the entire picture of the film without any sound at all !? The original divx.avi file plays fine via media player and the sound is perfect but I would like to encode it so that I can watch it on my television through my dvd player. This is the details of the divx.avi file

    Audio Format - Lame MP3 encoder (ACM),129 kBit/s, 48,000 Hz, Stereo

    Video Format - 576 x 240, 24 Bits, 141969 Frames, 23.976 Frames/Sec, 120 KB/Sec, DIVXMPG4 V3

Do i need some sort of audio codec for "Lame MP3" ??

    Any suggestions ?

What you need to do here is strip out the audio track using Virtualdub and save it as an uncompressed wave then use that as the source for the audio. What you've got there is a VBR mp3 encoded soundtrack and most applications have trouble dealing with it.
    Warning! I'm baaaaaaaaack

  5. when i pull a wav file from the avi (lame encoded) it only pulls a 32 minutes wave from a 1hour32 minutes movie. if i pull the AC3 the audio is not synced at all with the video, and cuts halfway through.

  6. never mind, i didnt set the processing to "full processing" in virtual dub

  7. Thanks kayfam.

I have now stripped the audio using virtual dub but it said...
"VD has detected an improper VBR audio encoding in the source avi file and will rewrite the audio header with standard CBR values during processing for better compatibility. This may introduce up to 20441 ms of skew from the video stream. If this is unacceptable, decompress the 'entire' audio stream to an uncompressed WAV file and recompress with a constant bitrate encoder. (bitrate:129.8 +/- 16.7 kbps)"

What do you suggest using to convert the WAV ? I have decompressed the entire audio stream to an uncompressed WAV file. I also tried converting the WAV file to mp3 using the Creative Audigy s/card software but TMPGenc cannot use this mp3 as the audio source.(says unsupported format)
Or, how do you offset the audio and video by 20441 ms ? Cant find any option in TMPGenc to do this, but I may be looking in the wrong place !!

    Thanks again !
