  1. I use cladDVDXP to copy the vob files to my hard drive and then do the frame serving with DVD2AVI, at this point I can either use TMPGEnc to encode the file for burning to VCD or view the vob files directly from my computer, no matter which way I choose, the movie is stretched vertically, this is very obvious when look at people's face.

I am sure this is a setting's problem, but I tried to play with DVDXP and could not figure out what I did not do correctly, would appreciate any help.

  2. when playing the vobs directly, the aspect ratio is usually off....this is normal..

however, for encoding in tmpgenc, use the following settings:

video output should be 4:3 Display NTSC

source video....aspect ratio (either 16:9 or 4:3 525 line NTSC), when creating the .d2v project file in dvd2avi, an info box should pop up telling you the source aspect ratio, this is what you enter in tmpgenc as source aspect ratio.

source video...image positioning method should be either fit to frame (preserve aspect ratio) or full screen (preserve aspect ratio) depending on which version of tmpgenc u have
