Hi all,
ATI Radeon 8500DV: I just got this card and have it all installed with the latest drivers etc etc.
Just to start testing I hooked up my VCR to the composite input on the Radeon and using VisualStudio5 I'm set to DVD PAL 720*576 with a view to burning the Mpeg to DVD.
The resultant Mpeg is ok when you view it in a small window but after burning to DVD and playing it on my regular TV / set top DVD player the quality is somewhat "crap". I was hoping to burn all my old VHS tapes to DVD but not if this is the best I can get.
I know I should be using S-video but I don't have the cable yet. I also tried a completely different composite source but it was just the same.
What's the trick to get the VERY BEST out of VHS video's......is S-Video really that much better? How about one of those Composite/S-Video to firewire converters (my PC has a firewire interface via the Radeon).
Thanks in advance,
Ian.

As Churchill famously predicted when Chamberlain returned from Munich proclaiming peace in his time: "You were given the choice between war and dishonor. You chose dishonor, and you will have war."
