  1. I have been trying to copy a dvd with it as an ISO image. It is a dvd 5 movie. It makes the image ok. The problem is that I can not get it to burn to a disk. It always gives some error about media not formatted. Is there a program that will just format dvd media?

  2. Are you burning to DVD-RW or DVD+RW media? That would be the only case where you might have to format the media. You could use Nero, PrimoDVD, RecordNow MAX, etc. (basically any DVD burning software) to format the RW disc.

Otherwise, the problem might be with DVD Decrypter communicating with your hardware. You could going into Tools...Settings...Advanced and changing the I/O Interface. Try ASPI or ASAPI, but these will require specific .dll's that you might not have installed on your system.

Another solution might be to change the I/O mode of your drive from UDMA to PIO. That fixed a problem for me with DVD Decrypter. You will need to go into your Device Manager and then the properties of the IDE Controller (either Primary or Secondary depending on where the drive is connected). It should list the 2 devices (master and slave) and their current I/O mode.

  4. I assume that on the menu Recorder...Erase ReWritable should do it.
