I was following the simple instructions found here on how to back up my DVD's that I own. I encountered a couple errors using DVD Decrypter. One is possible protection found and it's asking me for the "region shown on the DVD cover/box"...

The other is an error when 'extracting' the DVD using DVD Decrypter. The error happens early on when reading the disk.

    Any suggestions??

The first part is no big deal, just choose the correct region.

The second part is prob. because of newer copy protections if it's a newer dvd, DVD Decrypter has not been updated in 2 years.

Either use RipIt4Me, which uses DVD Decrypter to bypass newer copy protections, or use DVDFab HD Decrypter to rip then DVD Shrink & ImgBurn to complete, making assumptions as you gave no specific details.

RIPIT4ME is no longer updated as well. Use DVDFAB DECRYPTER.

UM...OK...when I click on your link to DVDFab Decrypter, it takes me to the place in VideoHelp.com where the link is. However, when I click on the DL link, it takes me to some site called https://secure.shareit.com/shareit/affiliate.html?? It is called DVDIdle.com and is asking me to become an affiliate?

    What's that all about?

Great! Got it...thanks! Next problem though. I used DVDFab...worked fine. Then opened DVD Shrink and followed original instructions to "open Disk Image". However, when I go to the folder that I specified for DVDFab, it can't find any "image files". I'm not sure what to do from here? Isn't it supposed to find an .ISO file or something?

In DVD Shrink, try Open Files or similar. You can only open a disc image if you created one when you ripped with DVDFab Decrypter.

Hmmm...how do I know if I created an image with DVDFab...I just used the DVD to DVD Full Disc option in DVDFab. It created 2 folders...Audio_TS and Video_TS. Nobody told me that I had to do anything else other than clicking START?? How do I make an image?

Also, when I try Open Files...it gives me an error that says "Invalid Data in ....VTS_20_0.VOB". I was pointing DVD Shrink to the Video_TS folder that was created by DVDFab

Well, if you have a video_ts & audio_ts folder, you did not make an ISO image.
Just open the video_ts folder with shrink, shrink to another video_ts folder or an ISO, burn either with ImgBurn, you're done.
Delete files and folders off HDD when done.

You don't have to make an ISO, all a dvd video ISO is a container that just has the video_ts & audio_ts folders & content inside of it.

Tried that...doesn't work. I get an error that says "Invalid Data in ....VTS_20_0.VOB". I was pointing DVD Shrink to the Video_TS folder that was created by DVDFab.

I'm confused...seems like it should be an easy process, but it's not. I can't get passed the DVD Shrink stage. Can someone please explain step-by-step how to use DVDFab and DVDShrink (and then burn image) to backup my DVD??

    Shouldn't DVDFab make an ISO??

An ISO is not necessary, and in this case would be a problem for you.

Try using FixVTS on the files created by DVDFab Decrypter, then open them in Shrink.

You know what...I just realized why I couldn't find the ISO. The path location where it was saved...I hadn't specified it to be in the same as the other files. That's why I couldn't find it.

I'm such a freekin dummy...sorry bout that. I'll take it from here and I'm sure I'll be OK. Thanks for the tip on using the Fix tool though.

I'm doing fine so far...but I've encountered another snag. There some copy protection on the disc...and it's asking me if I want to restart DVDFab using PathPlayer to fix it. I've done that a couple times, but the same thing keeps happening.

    Any ideas?
