    Hi,
I've got an SVCD file wanting to convert it to a VCD compatible file with DVD2AVI and TMPGEnc that was a 200mb file. The DVD2AVI splits it into 2 files: 1 is a valid sound file and the other is an 'all file' *.m2v that is only 127 bytes when it should be about 150mb, the sound file goes fine when i put it into TMPGEnc as a sound source but when I put the .m2v file in it comes up with an error like:

    "...cannot open or unsupported"

Now I'll tell you that I have:

    - I have installed the VFAPI plug-in into TMPGEnc
    - Increased the priority of VFAPI plug-in under settings.
    - Put the VFAPI file in the TMPGEnc directory

Please provide an answer so I don't have to pull anymore hair out.

I'm not positive on this, but it sounds like you are not using the dropdown when saving the files from dvd2avi. Instead of saving as all files you should save as a dv2 file.

  4. I hope I can explain this ok.

I had same problem, and it had to do not with the format, but it involved frameserving in dvd2avi. If i frameserved in another program and then loaded the project into dvd2avi, then saved the project as a d2v file, tmpgenc read it perfectly. No idea why that is, but at least it decreased my stress level some. Believe me, I tried everything, read every post, and tried a million combinations, and this is the only thing that works for me???????????????? dont know why. Maybe someone does.

Here's how you actually do it:=->

    Steps:
    RipDVD vts_01_1.vob, vts_01_2.vob, etc.
Open in DVD2AVi 1.76 Following these settings:
Open VOB's,on video set: iDCT 32 bit, Forced Film , Color RGB, PC scale
Save project=> Open this W/ VFAPi Codec 1.04beta then create fake .avi
afterwards open w/ TMPGEnc Plus and encode.

    Things to not Forget:

Install VFAPI TMPGEnc files in main dir
    Install VFAPI Codec vifpset.bat
    Install VFAPI Reader on DVD2AVI
