Problem playing CDRW on APEX 500W

Okay, I have had my apex almost 2 years and I love it. I usually only use cdr's (because of cost etc), but my wif suggested to me that since we use cdr's on movies we only watch once , that we should buy a pack of cdrw and use those instead. Wel lokay I have a acer 10x4x32 writer, voted one of the best of 2000, anyways, never have burned a bad disk, and don't with cdrw either, but when I play it in the dvd player it comes out all garbled and pixelated, or it will play okay for 2 sec and a mix of garbage again. I tried using a lens cleaner but to no avail. I use nero to burn it at 4x and burn it as disc at once. They were memorex (which i use all the time cdr wise) and rated to 4x only. any suggestions should I burn at a slower speed? Mind you these play fine when on a cdr or on the pc.

I also have an Apex 500w. never had a problem playing cdrs or cdrws until i used the memorex cdrw, i think that is your problem.
