  1. Hello, when I select a VTS file from the movie WINDTALKERS and hit "DVD play", a blue screen comes up saying "this player is incompatible with the region marking of this disc". I don't understand why this is happening. It is a region 1 disc and smartripper made it "region free" anyway. I am doing this the same way I have done dozens of DVDs already, what makes this one so different? Can anyone shed some light on this and how I may fix it?

    Thanks

  2. OK what u need to do open your video_ts.ifo and select the "region free" button at the bottom in ifoedit

also u need to check ALL the other ifo files the same way to make sure they dont have any other rce protections.

select a region if it asks you to select one

dont forget to save the ifos (i'm not sure if it auto saves or not)

Many people get confused over this. When removing RCE protection with IfoEdit you must set it to the region the disk was intended for. This is not the same as the region setting of your player.
In other words, if you have a disk made for region 1, and a region 5 player, you select region 1 in IfoEdit.
IfoEdit allows you to set more than one region - this will result in no playback on any player. This will be changed soon, I hope
What happens is IfoEdit searches the virtual machine code for references to SPRM 20, which contains the player region code. It then changes these instructions to use the constant value that you select. This fools the code into thinking your player is the correct region.
