  1. I have a video file which in its properties says it is an MPEG file when i try to burn it to cd with Nero it says i need to convert to MPEG1 ... Do i need an MPEG1 convertor ? I did download one which wasfrom panasonic but this did not seem to work.... PLEASE HELP

  2. Yes you do need to convert the movie file with a mpeg converter to a vcd complaint format. Try TMPGEnc. you should be able to find a link to the site on the left column under links.

    if it's an mpeg file, then you can just turn off the "create standard compliant CD" option and burn it anyway.
    of course...you didn't say if it is mpeg1 standard VCD or mpeg2 standard SVCD or mpeg1 XVCD......
    if it's already in a format that your standalone can play, then do what I said above.
    if not...that may be a different story
