    Hello to all of you.

I am currently working to move my captured TV Shows from my dvd recorder on my computer.
I have found a very good way of doing this by using DVD-RW burnt in VR mode that creates
a filed called VR_MOVIE.VRO on my computer.

Further on I have discovered that
TMPGEncMPEGEditor.exe can extract the MPEG files from the VR_MOVIE.VRO file and save them on my computer, which is absolutely brilliant for me.

The only problem I haven't managed to solve so far is this one:

I need a tool to edit and compress my Mpeg to smaller sizes. I have around 2,6 gb for a 40 mins mpeg file.

And my main concern is to be a fast one. I have used virtual dub and it took ages to do that.

Is there any solution to my problem? which is the mpeg edit and compressing software you expert guys would reccomend?

    Many thanks,
    Vlad

Instead of compressing the mpg, I'd do it right to start with, and record at a lower bitrate (quality setting) if 2.6 GB/40 minutes is too steep for you.
But if that's not an option:
CCE is the fastest mpg encoder on the block.
You could also try ReJig, that doesn't reencode, but transcode, a much faster process, but with a quality penalty.

  3. or use dvdshrink on your dvd-type disc from your Dvd recorder.. very quick and very easy to use + smooth or sharp options
