I have a 450 MB AVI file that I wanted to delete the first 150 frames. So I opened the AVI file, which was created from DV video and is at 30 fps, in Virtualdub and deleted frames 1-150. Then I went to "Save As" > "AVI". However, this edited file was going to be close to 3-GB? What is going on? All I want to do is to delete the first 150 frames from the original AVI. Thanks for you help.

VDub by default saves everything as uncomressed avi, so this would explain the problems you are having.

Just set video/direct stream copy. This tells VDub to copy the compressed video from the input to the output. This should be much quicker too.
