Multiplexing/simple multiplexing

Can anyone tell me the difference in these to types of joining audio/video?? Secondly can anyone tell me of another program other than TMPGenc,that can multiplex audio/video??

I think that the difference is just in the interface that tmpgenc shows you - "simple" gives you fewer options. bbmpeg can also multiplex MPEG files, the experts here say that it does a better job than tmpgenc. I think there are also a few command-line programs for doing it.
