  1. I would like to know if you can cut a mpg2 that's already encoded into 2 pieces like you can do with avi files in Vdub. cus i like to encode the entire movie, and i dont' have a DVD Write, so i have to split the movies to fit on 2 or 3 CDs. thanks for any help.

  2. There are number of tools for this, starting from TMPGenc. Womble is better and faster. Any mpeg editor, which doesn't reencoden everything, will do.

bbmpeg and tmpgenc are both freely available and can cut MPEG2 files. I've sometimes gotten sync problems using them, but others say they always have good results. I think both are listed under the "Tools" section on this site, and both have how-to guides under "Edit".

If you're encoding AVI files to SVCD or DVD and want to cut the movie in to multiple files (ie span 2-3 CDs), your best method is probably to use the tmpgenc "source range" filter (or the equivalent in whatever encoder you use) to just encode the portion you want. And if you have VBR audio, extract it to a WAV file with VirtualDub and use that for the audio source instead of getting both from the AVI file.

Never heard of Womble. I assume that you need to purchase it.

Please tell me something about it.

    Thanks,
