    Hello

I need help with cutting this stream:
Using VLC player I have saved a network stream as MPEG TS. After saving the stream plays ok, the GSpot is saying it is:
    File Type: MPEG-2 Transport Stream

Now I need to cut some parts from the original file and save the file without them. I have chcecked the forum and tested many tools but no works ok.
VirtualDub - doesn't recognize the file type
    VirtualDub-MPEG-2 - doesn't recognize the file type
Movica - can't trim the selected parts, big problems when editing, sometimes the movie freezes, sometimes buttons dont work, cant save the selected parts
Cuttermaran - doesn't recognize the file type
some other free - can edit but the saved file has shifted audio track
other commercial stuff - doesnt recognize

Which editor I can can use, which is capable to edit this very simple format without problems? I just need to cut some parts and save the resulted file.

    Thanks
    j.

I need something simple, where i select the part of the video exactly in desired frame position and cut it out. I cant figure it out how to do it in those programs. Something simple like virtualdub editing?

    hi..

demux the .ts stream with project x

load the video and audio into mpeg2schnitt

    do your editing and save...

You dont say in which format the final output must have...

If you want a mpeg2 or vob mux video and audio with ImagoMPEG-Muxer

if you want a .ts format load the muxed file into project x and save it as a ts stream..

Can't get any easier than MpegStreamClip. Just open TS file, check preview to make cuts or selection and save as TS or whatever you want.

MpegStreamClip requires that you have QuickTime Pro, but you can also use QuickTime Alternative.

  6. No version of VDUB will do what you want.

I would also recommend MPEG2CUT2. It works great on my captured files that few other progs will handle correctly. Docs state it was created to handle TS files.

The editing is about as simple as it gets, no other processing necessary. Mark in and out and save clips, cutting commercials from a 2-hour file is a less than 5-minute task.

You will still most likely need other processing for these files afterward, but that is another issue.

VideoRedo - frame accurate and keeps the file in TS format. Not free, however.

Ditto what Soopafresh said. MPEG2Cut2 didnt have the level of fidelity I wanted. For Transport Streams IMHO you need:

VideoRedo or Womble MPEG Video Wizard
    MPEG2repair (for problem TS files).

Coverting to MPEG/VOB: DGIndex, AVIsynth (scripts available at this site or doom9 forum) and HC encoder (all free).

MpegStreamClip works ok, thanks, though it has minor performance problems. The other programs have smaller or bigger problems to handle the TS stream I'm editing.

You can try VideoReDo and MPEGVCR without buying them, if you haven't tried them. I think VideoReDo is better at editing TS streams than MPEGVCR, but both can do it. If you tried VideoReDo and had problems with your stream, your stream may be corrupted. VideoReDo has a "stream fix" option that can fix a lot of problems and enable you to edit the stream.

ProjectX will let you edit TS (DVB) files (and put several files together in your output) *BUT* the output is SD (complete with any subtitles). I just tried it. I get a very good SD conversion.
