i need to know how to encode a widescreen file to a fullscreen file using tmpgenc. center (custom) is the only setting that makes the file fullscreen, but the picture looks sqeezes and stretched. any other ideas would be appreciated.

Why would you want to do that? If you don't stretch it to fill the screen, then the only other option is to stretch it vertically while keeping the same aspect ratio, and then you will lose the two sides of the screen.

It depends on what type of wide screen you have, 16:9 or 2.35:1. First you try this "Full Screen / Fit to flame". If it's not showing as full screen then you have to crop the tob and bottom black bar off. But still video will look a little sqeezes or you have to crop on both left and right side as well.
Note you dont have to change any setting after load template. -
If you use center custom size you have to specify the size. I've done this,i.e.-if your enodeing at 720x480 set yhe custom size to 960x480.
This will preserve the aspect ratio and the image will be alomst full screen. -
Yeah but either side of the movie still gets cut off. My point is that if a movie fills the screen horizontally and has black bands above and below the video, you cannot fill the screen vertically and preserve the aspect ratio without losing information from the left and right sides!

Of course the left and right edges will be off. 99% of the movie ocurrs in the center 2/3 of the frame. You lose nothing by cutting the sides. Use the zoom button on your DVD player on a LBX movie.

I wouldn't have gone there Wulf. Now the whole fullscreen/pan & scan debate will begin (yet again).
The only way your going to get full screen is to chop off the sides (*ouch*). Just use the "Keep Aspect Ratio" to prevent the squeezed look. Make sure you preview your project first to ensure you don't waste hours on a bad encode.Impossible to see the future is. The Dark Side clouds everything...
